2017 CIP Data

2017 SOL Performance

The CIP is a consortium of public school divisions in Virginia that have pooled resources and talents to help improve outcomes for students.  In the fall of 2016, fifteen public school divisions in Virginia fully implemented the Comprehensive Instructional Program (CIP).  Bland County, Buchanan County, Dickenson County, Grayson County, Hopewell City, Lee County, Norton City, Patrick County, Prince Edward County, Radford City, Russell County, Smyth County, Tazewell County, Wise County, and Wythe County trained teachers and administrators in the use of CIP instructional resources, implemented the CIP benchmarks, and used the CIP data throughout the year to positively influence student outcomes.  A very prescriptive approach has been implemented in each division as opposed to a one size fits all methodology.  The results have been remarkable.

As evidenced by the data below, these CIP divisions in aggregate outpaced state SOL gains from 2016 to 2017.  CIP divisions experienced a greater increase in pass rates from 2016 to 2017 than the state  in Reading, Writing, History, Math, and Science,  (all tables on this page were created from data sets obtained on the Virginia Department of Education’s SOL Build-A-Table website).

Ten of the divisions listed above implemented this process during the CIP's inaugural year of 2016.  To learn more about the date from 2016, please click on the link below.
